The Richest Man in New Babylon
What did you like about the book?
All of the program is valuable to me, especially “pay myself first.”
Jamaal in a lot of ways is just like me. He feels like he is fighting a fight that he won't win. I think this is all relevant as a lot of us that are in jail have the same fight as Jamaal.
I’ve been learning how to spend less money and just to buy the things that I really need. It is very interesting and very relevant because it teaches you how to make the most important decisions on what you really need.
This book has a lot of valuable information which led to very productive conversations in class. I think the class overall is excellent. There are quite a few new things I’ve learned and a couple of things I started to look at differently. This class is very relevant. I think The Richest Man in New Babylon is a great book. The book just grabs you right from chapter 1. All the rules are relevant and pretty straightforward.
Learning how to save money.
All of it.
I really enjoyed it. I learned something that I didn’t know.
I like everything about the program and all of that is valuable to me. I think the book is very beneficial. Yes, it’s interesting, relevant, and it allows me to understand the rules.
I believe it’s a well-organized program that should be of great use to people who practice what is taught.
I’m a writer, so I couldn’t wait to read it. Once I sat back and started to read it, I began to look back and realize where I went wrong. It helped me to accept failure, but win.
I like that it encourages you to reevaluate lifestyle as it relates to income and expenditures. It stresses the importance of saving and self-care. It does offer advice on how to cut expenses, e.g looking for bargains rescuing discarded items etc..
It reminded me of how not to get back into debt. This class was perfect. Small groups can open conversations. I love the rules. This book cuts right to the heart of what faces us upon release.
I love it.

I liked everything about the program. Nothing.
There is nothing that I didn’t like and I wouldn’t have left anything out.
Absolutely nothing! Because when you open the book and begin to read, it actually feels like a classroom. The words pull you in, but my teaching would just encourage the hunger.
The duration of the classes and the progressing of the days.
What do you think the author could do to improve the book? What would make it better?
Expanding the copies of this book in the library. Make sure more students get involved.
To have more hands-on things about fixing your credit.
I think the only thing that would improve the class would be allowing guys to open accounts to put the rules into practice. I also understand that is not possible.
Work on the book and read/study the quiz together.
Nothing.
I wouldn’t change a thing.
I don’t think I would change anything.
I don’t think there was anything I didn’t like about the program.
I don’t think I could improve on it.
I would add peer aides, but allow the aides to have groups on weekends. It would widen the minds of those in attendance.
I wouldn’t change a thing.
If you were going to recommend the book to a friend, what would you say?
I would say there is a book called “The Richest Man In New Babylon.” Read it. And practice it always. Pay yourself first, and you’ll see.
This is a good book to read and it will show you what to do to get your life and your money, and credit in line. Follow the rules and think about some of the things you have done in life. If I would’ve followed some of the rules I wouldn’t have spent money the way I would have in the street. I would’ve put some up.
Yes I would recommend book The richest Man in New Babylon.
This book is not only a good read but also has lots of useful information and instructions to help put you in a better financial position no matter your current financial situation.
This book is very good and will relate to everyday life, as well as help you to open your eyes to the reality of finances.
It’s good and you learn to manage your $ better.
This book is real and interesting.
Take at least a half-hour out of your day every day and read this book, I guarantee you won’t regret it. It’s something I wish was around 20 years ago, but like they say “it’s better late than never.”
I would say no matter what kind of life you have, it wouldn’t hurt to read it. You’ll probably learn something from it.
In life, many struggles tend to occur and the reason why most of us suffer from struggles is simply because we don’t know our purpose. Everyone in life has a purpose… but you’ll never notice it until you recognize the value of the purpose within struggles, which is why tiny steps are the most important element. Read the book and I promise you’ll commence to make some changes in your life.
You should read this book because it encourages you to invest in yourself, and your financial independence. It gives step-by-step guidelines as to how to secure your financial future from obtaining employment to retirement plans. As a young man recently released from incarceration, he met up with a wise old mentor who took him on a life-changing journey imparting along the way of vast wealth of knowledge on how to become a responsible and productive human being.
Son, there is a book I’m going to send the mail. Read it.
